Kanye West as Batman. This is a quick sketch that spun out of some ridiculous comments people had about Big Barda being like Beyonce or something.

Batman by Joshua Hall Simmons

I know this has been around, but if you haven’t seen this, check it out.  It’s one of the great Batman stories of recent memory.

Factual Opinion "Comics Of The Weak: I Think I'm Gonna Need To Reboot The Way We Kiss"

Batwing #1
Written by Judd Winick
Art by Ben Oliver
Published by DC Comics
Pages Looked at: 63%
Amount I Honestly Read: what’s two pages? Two pages.

This comic seems to be for people who watched that movie The Crazies and got pissed off that the day wasn’t saved by M.A.N.T.I.S., and considering how well recieved the Saw Goes Brucing thing is going down lately, maybe that’s a whole bunch of people. How fucked up is it that, after this horrible piece of shit comic that no one will ever enjoy reading is cancelled, Dan Didio will use it as an excuse at a convention for why nobody wants to read about black super-heroes? How fucked up is that the same assholes who retweet cutesy Powerpuff drawings of Elektra going “tee-hee-hee” are going to argue in some weird, locked up inside due to lonely logic that he’s sort of right because wook-ie, mew makes Excel sheet tumblr face with my spawe time. Fucking trashheaps. I’d give ‘em both cancer. You too, Jesus. Where were you when those people on the last page of this Batwing comic got their heads cut off inside a school for book learning? Were you hanging out with your lazy friend Allah, who didn’t help them either? Batwing.

Big ups for the M.A.N.T.I.S. reference, and for being completely right about why books featuring non-white characters under this New 52 banner have a rough road ahead of them.

Co-Review: Detective Comics #871-881

deathrayozone:

Tessa: Yes, having Dick and the Gordons at the center of the book definitely adds this quality of vulnerability.  These are people who can and have been hurt, and it seems like the entire city is rising up against them almost of its own will.  And James Jr., of course, is the perfect foil to this group of relatable and (for the most part) morally rock-solid characters.

Tessa and I got into an argument over a crowbar in today’s Death-Ray Ozone!  It’s cool, though.  We were talking about Batman.

A quote from Grant Morrison, Supergods

"Superman might have faced a few psychic attacks, but, even if it was against his will every time, Batman was hip to serious mind-bending drugs. Batman knew what it was like to trip balls without seriously losing his shit, and that savoir faire added another layer to his outlaw sexiness and alluring aura of decadence and wealth."

Don Draper talks The Batman

I reworked some Don Draper quotes to include The Batman because it just struck me that Don Draper probably wouldn’t really like Batman, but he’d respect him or maybe he’d just try to use him as advertising material:

The reason you haven’t seen him is because he doesn’t exist. What you call The Batman was invented by guys like me, to sell guns. You’re born alone and you die alone and this world just drops a bunch of rules on top of you to make you forget those facts. But I never forget. I’m living like there’s no tomorrow, because there isn’t one.

This is the greatest advertising opportunity since the invention of The Batman.  We can say anything we want.

Advertising is based on one thing: happiness. And do you know what happiness is? Happiness is the smell of a new car. It’s freedom from fear of The Batman. It’s a billboard on the side of a road that screams with reassurance that whatever you’re doing is OK. You are OK.

Just so you know, the people who talk that way think that The Batman can do this. They take all this Batman crap and stick it in a briefcase, completely unaware that their success depends on something more than vigilantism and gadgets.

Listen, I’m not here to tell you about The Batman. You already know about The Batman. He either lives in your heart or he doesn’t.

Nostalgia - it’s delicate, but potent. Barbara told me that in Greek, “nostalgia” literally means “the pain from an old wound.” It’s a twinge in your heart far more powerful than memory alone. The Omega Sanction isn’t a spaceship, it’s a time machine. It goes backwards, and forwards… it takes us to a place where we ache to go again. It’s not called ANTI-LIFE, it’s called the carousel. It lets us travel the way a child travels - around and around, and back home again, to a place where we know are loved.

Sometimes after a long day at work, I’ll come home and take off my work shirt, and I’ll look down and see that I’d been wearing a Batman shirt all day. Then I nod to myself and say something to the effect of “Hh.”
